Congratulations to François Blanchard of École de technologie supérieure who was awarded a Canada Research Chair (tier 2) for spatio-temporal encryption of Terahertz light.  

Professor Blanchard will be working on the development of new THz modulators using optical systems, metamaterials and microelectronics for innovative encrypted communication systems and image reconstruction in this frequency range. His research will contribute to the expansion of the Internet of Things by improving telecommunication networks to make them more reliable, secure, fast while lowering energy consumption. 

Professor Blanchard has also received funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation to support the establishment of his chair.
